Noob needs help. I have a '63 American convertible that I would like to move. Is it possible to remove the drive shaft from the rear diff without unbolting the rear axle from the leaf springs?
Thanks Andy |

Yes. You likely have what's commonly know as a "big nut" driveshaft. There is probably information here on removing one or you can search the AMC-List archives at http://www.amcyclopedia.org/amclist.

You can also use a c-shaped screw type puller with an appropriately sized socket to push the U-joint apart (since that drive shaft doesn't use the typical u-bolts for the u-joints.)
Good luck!
