Picked this project up at a car show about 3 years ago, wife loved the car and had to have it. Knew it had pretty bad rot in the rails but didn't scare me off.

Probably should start off with some picture of the exterior but I didn't think about it and don't have any available to post yet.

So starting off with brakes. I wanted to go disc up front (and rear later) so got the scarebird kit and got it installed this weekend. Very happy with how well it went together.

Milling the original hubs took all of 30 minutes and that was mostly just de-chucking to test fit.

Went ahead and lowered the front with plates today. Still need to lower the rear to level the car out and get some larger diameter wheels. Plan on using U111 "Rambler" wheels.

Picture of the front with the plates installed. And a pic of the interior.

Looking good! Keep us updated. Especially curious about the rusted rails and repair.

Good work. I love that you are saving an early American.   Really like the body style. Wish you continued success!

Thanks for the compliments, I really love this little car and its the first one I had ever seen.

Tore the car apart the car this weekend and dropped it off at paint and body. Below the windsheild will be original teal/green, and the roof will be a ivory white.

I need help finding
-new window felts
-new/used interior door handle
-new/used steering wheel - mine is pretty badly cracked, I can fix it but would prefer to start with something better.

Contact Peter Stathes (www.amcrambler.com) for the window felts and any weather stripping. You will likely have to get the original door handles rechromed. They really don't look that bad...

It's not bad Chrome wise but that one is broke and barely stays on.

And thanks for that link!

You might find something from Eddie Stakes in Houston, just to your south. He, I believe, is personally into the AMX. But check out his website at PlanetHouston.com for his email and for sale ads. Dig your American!

I nearly bought a javelin off of Eddie last year, but I actually ran across the handle on Ebay so I should be all set other than a nicer steering wheel.

The person I bought this car from had found it at a paint and body, it was in the early stages of restoration I dont know the whole story but the person I bought the car from had purchased it from the P&B.

Anyway my P&B got the car stripped down this week everywhere you see primer had repairs of some sort but my guy said they did an excellent job just obviously were not through. I should have the car back from them week after next.

Dropped the bumpers off at plating yesterday that'll be about a month out. All the chrome on the car was/is excellent except for the bumpers, they have large fist sized spots missing chrome.

I still have thoughts about changing the engine eventually but for now its running so good im going to leave it.
