good luck ! It took me the best part of 5 years to locate a 401. There were only 48 Jav's with 401's in them and some have been "borrowed" and 360's put in. best bet would be to import one. I think Mascots had a couple of blocks a couple of years ago.

A few Cherokee's that came here had 401's as well, but im not sure on the exact amount

Seem to recall that there was a 401 and tranny on ebay a year or two back, presumably from a jeep and rebuilder condition, price was $2500 I reckon.
Depending on your goals, if you end up going the US route, I would seriously consider getting someone over there who knows what they are doing to build the short block for you, cheaper machining and easier access to parts. Will probably work out a lot cheaper than trying to do it locally and the cost of shipping would be the same. With the short block on its own, you can probably be a bit more creative with its customs value than you could for a shiny new crate motor.
Once it's here, just add heads and other ancilaries and bob's you auntie.
Again would probably source heads from the states and get any porting work you want done there before they are sent.
