I have a set of aluminum edelbrock heads can I put them on my 304?

    From what I gather from reading this forum is that the valves are too large and will contact the engine block.

    In other words the bore of the 304 is too small.

thanks, figured something wouldn't work got them for nothing brand new and my 304 heads are wore out.

    I'm not interested in them but after you achieve 30 post you can put them in the for sale area and sale or trade for good 304 heads.

A friend of mine has 2 complete 304's for sale for $250 near Eau Claire Wi. one set of heads was just redone.

You could bore the 304 to 3.875 or notch the cylinders to fit.
A better choice is to slide in a 360.....

I was going to say you can notch the block so the valves clear but the are shrouded what you may gain from larger valve are lost.
Have you looked into having your haeds redone?

Just took apart a std bore 304 that had 360/401 heads on it standard bore didnt have anything special done to it and cyl walls werent notched or didnt look washed or anything wantajav from delaware got the block still have heads on shelf .
