If you want to replace bolts. ARP has them. Real cheaper. I have 7/16 bolts on 4 cars. Never blew head gasket yet. Put them in 80's. Still going strong. And them originals. So that my two cents.

Probably not worth the effort upgrading to 1/2", just put some 7/16" ARP bolts in it if you want a little extra piece of mind.

I never liked re-doing a 7/16-14 to a 1/2-13, the holes
are compramised by remnents from the original threads. 1/2-13 has a minor diameter of .421 and 4/16-14 has a major diameter of .4375 Typically 7/16-14 taps run .442 outside diameter, you will never clean it up completely. +1 on the above, use good studs and forgeddaboudit....

I agree. A good set of ARP 7/16 bolts will take you a long way. That's what I have on my 567 hp 420 inch stroker

To do it right is actually a very difficult thing to do, and unless the guy doing it is very good (and therefore expensive) there is a high probability of screwing it up. The 7/16 are fine, a lot would say better, so there is no reason to take the risk.

For comparison and consideration: ALL small block and big block Chevies use 7/16" bolts. 1/2" bolts are overkill.
