Hey guys and gals,. In my thread about getting the top bolts loosend on this tranny you fine folks were working to help me identify it. But I went on a family vacation for a week. Well, I'm back and I have some more pics for you.

The tranny is out of a 75 Gremmy and was bolted onto a 232 straight 6. On the top cover there is only 6 bolts. 3 on each side of the cover. None on the front or back. There are #s on it but the grime is pretty thick. I'll take some cleaner to it later and a steel bristle brush. That should get the gunk off so I can read it. It does Look to have the ford "butterfly" pattern on the bell housing. Any help on identifying it and locating a rebuild kit for it would be greatly appreciated.

That is not a T-150 or a T-14.   Shape of the cover plate is not quite correct for either of those and they both have more cover plate bolts.  I think it is a T-15, but I can't find a picture to compare. As said before the T-15 was a heavy duty option behind six cylinder engines in some cars.  Joe

According to the 1975 TSM there was only one 3 speed manual transmission, it was a 150T.  Used in Hornet, Matador, Gremlin and Ambassador with a 232 or 258 six cylinder or a 304 V-8.  The 9 character ID code is stamped on the lower left front case flange.

A overdrive unit was available and just behind this trans.

I had rebuilt many of these when working for the dealer in the 70's

I have an NOS T-150 sitting in my parts room right now.  It has nine cover plate bolts.  I only count six bolts on that transmission.  Am I missing something?  Joe

Im pretty sure its a T14. I have one out of a V8 Gremlin (1972)   and I just went out and looked at the 3 spd out of my 72 Gremlin. It looks just like the OPs trans. The 1975 TSM says only the 150T. But the 1974 and 76 say T14 as well

Pacerman was correct, your cover doesn't match a 150T.  Looking in the 1976 TSM they have 2 manuals, a T-14 and 150T.  Your cover looks like the drawings of the T-14.  The book states that the T14 was only used in Gremlins with the 232 or 258.

The parts book lists 4 different 3 speed transmission for 1975

That's a T-14,  6 bolts on the cover plate ID's it as a T-14. It's been several years since I've had a T-14,  but that's how I remember it.

T-150 has 9,   T-15 has 8.   I've got both outside, car versions,  and a 4wd version T-15.

Plus I've got a overhaul manual with plenty of drawings of the parts breakdown of each.

Clean it up enough,  and you'll eventually find the numbers on the case and tailhousing.

I hope you got the bellhousing AND the clutch.  (You may need the clutch to have it rebuilt)

I did grab the bell housing and all of the clutch system. The trans does have six bolts on the cover. I'm working on my truck today. Have to have it to get to work tomorrow. But as soon as I'm done, I'll clean up the side of it and post the casing in it.
