Now with that and rebuilding the motor he could buy the crank adapter and have the crank machined to use the late FW but would still need to deal with the balance issues but thinking he could find a later FW easier than a early one.

After I replied I thought about it some motr and realized it might only be for later V-8s so indeed any early V-8 flywheel will do as long as you match balance it to the old flexplate or flywheel. The 343 and 290 flywheels don't have a counter weight so either of those two would be your best option.

If I am understanding correctly, a 343 flywheel will physically bolt right up to my 290. I can buy a new 343 neutral balanced flywheel and have it balanced with my rotating assembly. Am I correct in all of this? Thanks.
