That will probably be a good power improvement. My brother had a 4bbl (750cfm Holley I think) on his Chevy 400, but it was on a 2bbl intake and it ran terrible, he saved up for a nice aftermarket 4bbl intake and it made a lot more seat-of-the-pants power and responded better. |

Working on this .
I got a Jeep intake /exhaust . The head fits nice , unless the water port to fill ( strokers know it s not a problem ) The exhaust doesn t match , because of the starter . It s on driver side , and quite big . Someone ( sorry don t remember ) told me a 69/71 starter is smaller . Quite hard too find here , and mine works great . So I have to deal with it . Just have to go around this beast :P So .. The Jeep exhaust is now cut in 3 pieces , I have to get U bend and weld them . Not a big problem . It takes much more time thinking than doing . The intake is way too long . Can t fit , because of linkage . I don t even have a power brake ..... So I ll have to cut it , and make it weld to a plenum ( can t weld aluminium , don t have the right gas ) . The only problem , for now , is oiling the rockers . Didn t check yet , but the 232 has a solid bare where oil come from . The 4.0 use ( I think ) oil through push rod . Just have to hope I can find a cam kit with pierced hydraulic lifters :P Maybe I will have to use external oiling ... What I found funny is that quite nobody made this upgrade , just one guy on the Gremlin forum , but he stopped for a whole engine/trans upgrade . |

All replacement valve lifters will have the proper hole to lubricate through the push rod.

Good news :P
So I won t have to built an ugly thing trough the valve cover . Is it enough to lubricate rockers ? |

The newer rocker style is designed to be lubricated from the lifter and through a hollow push rod.
The later push rod will have a hole in each end. |

This is where diesel terminology would be the better choice. A push tube would refer to a hollow device. |

Mandrel bend 1 5/8 are difficult to find in Canada . 23 $ each , add shipping . I need 5 or 6 .
So I got a used SBC headers from a 350 , for 75 $ . Already cut :P And welded ..... So for now , half of the dual is done . Just have to finish welding ( My Miller 211 is my best friend :) ) Would send pictures but my Kodak is dead . Sure you ll love it . I want to keep my starter . So I left about one inches back from the 4 5 6 headers . Hope it s enough . Will send pictures , it s funny . Home made exhaust is brain consuming .... Welding is the easy ( assuming you have a decent welder ) part . Thinking before is a pain .... My goal is a sound like this : I have 1 5/8 exhaust pipes lenght 10 inches .. I plan for 2 inches collector , 10 inches long , then 1 3/4 or 2 Cherry Bomb . Is this correct ? Will build the X pipe where the paint stop burning ( old trick from bommers ) :P Hope I speak correct , you may know I m French :P So ? |
