If you are gonna race the car why go with heavy cast TTs? They probably weigh 20 lbs each....A racing 15 x 8 will weigh around 13 lbs.... You need a 4.5 BS so a few options would be Weld drag/rod lites or stars, centerline convo or classic auto drag (might need a spacer with the 4 7/8 BS) some of the RTS weld wheels are nice too but $$$$

Pretty much every other wheel option is at least double the price and there is not much chance of finding suitable used wheels where I am in Australia either. Even if you did find some used rims, they would probably still cost you more or shipping would kill the deal.

Just checked the rims I have on there now, they are 14" x 8" and measure at 4.0" backspace. A little more backspace would be nice and there is plenty of room in the inside, so I think 4.5" will definitely be the go.

Do you have a local circle track supplier? A Bassett lightweight D-hole stock car wheel is available in 15"x8"x4.5"BS (also 4.75"BS) in 5x4.5" bolt pattern, weighs 17 lbs and costs about US$80 ... add $10 if you want a safety bead-bump. Wheels are typically custom made to order.

Lightweight D-hole

They have other wheel options available, including DOT versions, so scroll through the site or check with your local circle track supplier. Need 45deg. lug nuts for circle track wheels and they are bolt-centric, so balance accordingly.

Hope this helps,RD

No option for skinny front rims with the Bassett wheels, the narrowest offering is 7".

The other main option at the moment would be these local steel wheels:

Could do 15 x 5 and 15 x 8, I just think the centre of the wheel looks a little odd on these. The Torque Thrusts do look a little more period correct to me.

All good, looks like they will work nicely:

In the meantime, I'm going to give them a run on the Javelin since the Gremlin won't be finished for a while yet
