Have a 70 Hornet w/v-8 crossmember.
Would like to drop a 258 in while rebuilding V-8
Has anyone made mounts for this ? Don't want to change crossmember
for this temporary swap.
Thanks,
Ron.

A cheap 6 cyl cross member has to be out there somewhere. Put up a post in the wanted section.

Just wondering if anyone had done this before.

After the CM you then have to deal with wiring. You going to cut the v8 one to work with the 6?
Then you have the fuel line comes in on different sides between the 2.
Do you have a 6 carb cable as I think the v8 will be to short.
So it is not just the CM.

i ran an 82 258 in a 70 hornet with just the later x-member and the mount brackets from the later motor. the stamped sheet metal mount adapters are different, they look similar but side by side they shift the motor front or rear, i can't remember.

when i put a 1970 232 into a 63 classic i had a similar issue; i drilled a new hole in the x-member mount support to shift the motor fore or aft. i may have done that on the 70 hornet, i forget. but it was just mount issues.

save every bracket you ever find! and every water pump/fan pulley!!

Thought it would be fairly easy.
When I converted to V-8 I used a 70 Rebel Machine wiring harness from the firewall forward,
switched the battery and solonoid to the pass side. V-8 accel cable and radiator.
I can make up some extensions for the wiring. Think I still have the 6 accel cable.
Got a couple of aftermarket headers for Jeep to try.
Thanks everyone,
Ron.
