65 classic. 232. Dual stage Carter pump. Screen filter, not cartridge.

Where can I find the gasket that goes between the bowl and the fuel pump body?

I've googled, I've talked to some AMC shops...no dice.

Can you post a pic of the fuel pump you're dealing with?  Not familiar with a Carter with a screen filter rather than the cartridge type.

Is it the bowl that's about 3 inches tall?
If so, it deserves the cartridge filter, which comes with a new gasket-normally.

Everything I've found says the screen was an item one could pick up at the dealer to replace the cartridge filter. It has a larger spring, and is obviously reusable. I'll snap a pic when I pull it out. I have a cartridge filter I could put in it, but the gasket is wrong as it's all out of a much later Jeep pump that came with the car.

I put a small clear plastic VW fuel filter in line for the time being to monitor what's coming out of the tank.

I'm assuming I can just order a filter for the Carter and it will come with the proper gasket. I'll give it a shot anyways.

A NAPA 3038 (or equivalent) fuel filter will get you a new paper filter (if you decide to change it) AND a new proper gasket.

Are you talking about a Fuel Minder (sp?) accessory that has a glass bowl and a screen? That's a different animal and is not actually part of the fuel pump.
