Calendar Event: 2012 Flagstaff Route 66 Days Car ShowPosted: Nov/07/2011 at 8:17pm |
|
Sept 7 - 9 2012
It's never too early to start plugging for the hometown show...and I have something REALLY exciting....when I got home from the SNAMCRC show, I had an e-mail from the Flagstaff Rt 66 Car Club president....
We had our first real planning meeting for the 2012 car show on Wednesday. We have a few changes in the works for the show. We are going to add a few additional judging categories. The two new categories you will be interested in is the "American Independant" class the the "Youth - 25 and Under" class.
I will be sending out flyers the first week of January. The new changes will be on that flyer. We really appreciate your support of our event. We try to listen to our participants and make changes based upon their recommendations whenever possible. Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you soon! SO... persistance has paid off - there is going to be a class for Independent cars like ours (and Studebaker and Willys and Packard and all the other indies). Several of us have been asking for this for years, and now we have it...so...I am going to put the challenge out there to the AMC community - can we get ten AMC cars at the Flagstaff show this year? It is a show of over 400 cars - it sells out every year and is a huge street party with cars as the center piece. It is so much fun - if you have ever wanted the chance to have hundreds ...thousands...of people see your car in one day, this is the event for you.If we can get a group together, I will organize some sort of "affair" the night before for all of us, if people want. What sort of affair? Hot dogs in our backyard to..dinner someplace nice..or???? Let's toss it out there and see what people want to do.

SEdmonds really worked hard to get us the Independant class for this show. So let's get some AMC vehicles there and make her hard work worthwhile.

I got my flier in the mail yesterday for the Rte 66 Flagstaff show. This is a big show - 425 cars of all sorts, that fill up the entire historic downtown of Flagstaff. if you've never been to Flagstaff, you are in for a treat. They have many classes, and this year, at last, have added an American Indie class for us. (Class FF). There is also a Youth Class for those under 25(Class Z). I have socks older than that....
Here is a link to the flier. This show fills up every year - usually by July - so if you are looking for something fun to do in the fall (and Flagstaff is great in the fall), please come on out. I would love to have "AMC Row".

I'll be there if my car is done. Heck, I'll be there in the Jeep if I have to.

I just got word that 250 of the 450 places are sold - and this show sells out every year around July 1st.
This is the first year they have an American Independent Class, and it would be great to blow their socks off with an amazing AMC turnout. Flagstaff is pretty nice in September - and this is a fun show - right downtown with lots to see and do.
Here are some vids of past years.

We just got our confirmations in the mail - my car is in the American independent class and Matt's is in the Youth class. This show usually sells out by July, if anyone is interested in entering.
