I have 2 t10s that have been in storage for over 30 years.  One was installed, worked okay, but leaked from the front and would pop out of 2nd gear.  The other has just been sitting.  I am now trying to figure out what they are out of.  I checked planet Houston's id chart and did not see either one.  The first one, I will call the old one, since I believe it has the older style Hurst linkage.

The shifter on the first transmission appears to be an aftermarket shifter. The second transmission has a shifter that looks factory, the reverse lever has an extra hole that looks like its 1970 or newer. 1970 and newer use a linkage that goes to the steering column and locks it in reverse. My understanding is that the casting numbers dont mean a lot.

The first one the tag has T-10T , that is a wide ratio trans with a 2.63 1st gear.

The metal tag is what you want to look at. The T10T would be a 2.64 trans, a T10P is a 2.43 and a T10V is a 2.23 first gear. Also good to double check to be sure since tags can be changed. 2.43 are rarest, and 2.64 is pretty rare and desirable as well. The 2.23 isn't too difficult to find.
