You want the shift indicator and shifter on the column right? For something like that I would look into a mid 70s GM car. My 78 Cadillac has exactly what you're looking for + telescoping wheel. I think they started the dimmer on the column in the early 80s. If your current tilt with no indicator column is a Saginaw then you should be able to swap the parts around with other similar columns. Didn't mean to hijack your thread Brotherbamc. Thanks.

Just an update on this...
Had the windshield pulled out yesterday by a local glass shop. It came out in one piece and was able to save it, but I think that it is too far gone to save... It has windshield wiper scratches and a chip. It also has some sort of scum on it that I can't seem to get off. Not sure quite what it is, but I think that it might of etched the glass. I can scrape it off with a razor blade, but I can't quite get all of it off... It also has mold between the two pieces of glass on the bottom of it. I think it will be cheaper to purchase a new windshield then to try to restore the old one. Besides this has turned out to basically be a nut and bolt restoration anyways and if it's going to go that far, might as well put a new windshield in it... Sub frame connectors are too long and will need to be cut to fit... about 5 1/2 inches... and they will need some "massaging" to fit properly against the floor pan before they are welded into place... Today is to get the interior scraped out with wire cup brush and angle grinder... still have a lot of left over contact cement that I'd like to get out before it goes to the paint shop... Hoping to get it on the rotisserie Sunday and get the doors off... other then that, it's nothing but a shell. |

You will not regret looking through a new windshield. Old glass and old chrome often suck. Joe

That interior glue crap is a nightmare. What frame stiffiners are you using? I'm about to fab up a set but I would rather purchase them.

I purchased a pair from a guy in know from Facebook... cost more to ship then it cost to purchase them... They're old school is all I can tell you about them... they say Gremlin/Spirit on them... I think that they're for Javelin/AMX... 71-74 Have to cut off about 2 1/2" or so... They interfere with the transmission cross member and don't fit the floor pan tight enough for me... Will know more when I can get the car on the rotisserie... Edited by BrotherBamc - Mar/05/2017 at 2:46am |

More FUN...!!! Not everything goes as planned, but after some trial and error got it on four wheels again. Home made rotisserie and first time being used. Won't be able to flip the car in the garage. Will have to push it out, then raise, flip, and then lower it back down. |
