Had a little time during my lunch break today so I tucked the bumpers.

Don't know if you have seen this thread from the very start but if not, you may find it interesting.

Last weekend turned out a wash, and this weekend has been very busy as well. I’m finally getting outside to start replacing suspension bushings. I’m going to add a leaf to the rear as well and clamp all the leafs forward of the axle. I also have a rear ADDCO swaybar to install once I get ride height where I need it. Probably won’t get to replacing steering components until sometime later.

After not starting until after 5pm Saturday, I only got the rear done. I didn’t end up adding a leaf. The Javelin and AMX HD packs I have are WAY thicker leafs. I didn’t want to risk having the rear raised 3”. I have some shims, but not longer spring center bolts.

The difference just with the rear poly bushings, clamped forward leafs, and ADDCO bar is noticeable. It most definitely hooks harder. You can actually feel the reduction in axle wrap. That and a new fuel pump that finally has me seeing stable pressure is quite nice. Can’t wait to do the fronts and steering and get a front ADDCO bar in there. Also want to look into having my steering box rebuilt with a faster ratio!

Got the front end rebuilt this weekend minus pitman and idler arms. And I did an alignment. -1* camber, 1/16” toe in. I guesstimated caster measuring distance from strut rod bracket to lower control arm before and after and adding a half inch each side. No idea where that puts me. Considering the factory specs for a Hornet are zero degrees, I’m probably not more than +1.5* now. Hard to say. I’d like to see 3*+ but I don’t know how that will affect control arm bushings and possible binding.

Other than a sweet Control Freaks setup with coilovers, rack and pinion, and Wilwood brakes...I only need some good EBC pads, ADDCO swaybar and new pitman and idler arms to be where I’d like to be.

Oh yeah, almost forgot - I cut half a coil from the front springs. When I first sat the car down, it was a good 2” higher than before. It’s mostly settled now and is about 1/2” lower. Probably an inch drop from the spring trimming and 1/2” raised with new polyurethane bushings.

Update: The car is doing fine. Fun daily driver that will get to over 120mph rather quickly. I am pretty sure I have leaking valve stem seals and desperately need a valve job. When I run into some cash, I’ve got a buddy who has a nice ported and polished set of heads. And I’ll likely slide in a Summit 8600 cam too.

Update:
Car is still kicking tail.  Fun daily driver that sucks down all gas in sight!  In an effort to reclaim some mpg, I picked up a 1977 Sportabout with a 1bbl 232 and 3 speed manual for some spare parts and a song.  $17 carb rebuild and some plugs and wires I had lying around and she purrs like a kitten.

Current Plans:
I am looking to pick up a lightly used Holley Terminator EFI system.  It comes with a new main wiring harness AND a new in box EZ-TCU!  The price is not bad at all.  I'll be keeping my eye out for a 4L80E locally as well.

So here's the proposed parts list -
-Terminator EFI upgraded to HP firmware
-Holley Hyperspark Distributor controlled by Holley HP
-4L80E w/EZ-TCU
-2500ish stall converter
-Valve Job and new springs in heads
-Summit 8600 cam (maaaaaybe 8601.  I do like my vacuum brakes...)
-Already have an Aeromotive Phantom fuel system
-misc fuel line and fittings
-3.73 gears and rebuild kit for my TracLoc
-Craigslist wheels
-275/60R15 rear tires
-225/60R15 fronts (biggest 15' tire that won't rub.  not super common size.)

Also gonna keep my eyes open for a single input dry nitrous 4150 plate.  Holley HP can do nitrous fuel enrichment and timing tuning.  Why?  Just because.  Who knows, maybe I'll end up with a spare set of wheels and slicks to throw in the hatchback for weekend track trips.  Looking for 18mpg during the week and mid 11s on the weekend...Big smile
