This is under the pass side dash - 2 screw holes, look like they were used for something in the past, any ideas??

what's on the opposite side of dash? I believe these are simply attachment screws for the dash frame. The picture would indicate the frame has slightly slipped as the screw heads indents aren't aligning with the current frame threats behind the plastic dash.

DOH!
I guess I should have figured that out - sorry for the trouble. At least the rest of the car turned out OK. Edited by jason - Sep/17/2017 at 10:13pm |

I don't have my car right next to me now so I can't look to see what those two holes do. My recollection is that those rusty rivet heads next to those two screw holes positively lock the ABS dash to the metal framework underneath. Zero slippage. I think the issue is still alive. |

Well I got a chance to check under the dash of the White70.
It has two screws in the dash in that location. The dash structure has never been out of this car. When I put my hand up under the dash, all I felt was the pointy end of the screw and the metal dash sub-structure. The only thing I can come up with is that those two screws on either side of the center of the dash held things in place while the dash itself was riveted to the metal sub-structures underneath. Although to me, that really doesn't make a lot of sense, unless the factory drilled the holes for the rivets into the ABS dash instead of having them molded in. Then it does, and why they don't line up on the dash in the pics in this thread could be that the assembler at the factory didn't like the position of the dash while he worked on it and had to take the screws out to get it where he liked it. |
