The Crossram on this car is the same one that Frank Lipare put on the car when it was built in the fall of 1969. It has a factory part number on it. I had it Jet Hot coated in clear so it looks awesome and will not do the typical aluminum fade out over time.

I have been working behind the scenes on this project. I ripped the entire wire harness cobble job out of the car and proceeded to fabricate new harnesses. I am using the RON FRANCIS fuseblock now. It mounts on a plate that allows you to unhook it so that you can attach wires without laying upside down. Built the engine compartment harness first. Basic harness with a bulkhead plug. There are 9 wires: high beam low beam parking rt signal l signal horn MSD 10 GA MSD 12 GA MSD TACH

Since there is nothing stock about the wiring need I really have no choice but to scratch build this harness system. A few guidelines: Since it is almost impossible to work under this dash with roll cage installed, I am making the harness system using a lot of high quality connectors, This will allow me to make individual harnesses and plug in the connector sections. Harness 1. using a stock AMC headlight switch plug I removed the wires not needed and made a harness with a connector at the end Harness 2. using a replacement Turn Signal switch plug from RON FRANCIS I replaced all the wires to color code to my set up. It also has a connector on the end. Harness 3. using a replacement Ignition Switch plug from RON FRANCIS I replaced the wires using color codes consistent with my build diagram. Harness 4. this is for the dash lights, tach, electric speedo, fuel gauge and electric fuel pumps (2). Again it has a connector on the end. The best part of the system is that I can install each of the above harnesses in the car one at a time then I neatly tied them together. At the rt side lower dash all the harness connectors sit and I can make the connections one at a time I know it looks like a mess since I left the connector ends long so that I can cut them neatly AFER I know it all works

HELPS TO HAVE AN ACCURATE DIAGRAM OF WHAT YOU NEED!
. I must have done dozens of drawings but it gave me perspective and by the end of the wiring part I knew where each wire goes and the colors to boot. This was quite a chore. Today I did the first test hook up and every this seems to work fine. The RON FRANCIS set up is 10x better than the PAINESS WIRING setup that I first bought.. Bought high quality wire and everything is upgraded. Edited by JERSEYJOE - Sep/08/2019 at 12:56am |

Nice job! This is something I really need to do to my Rambler's dash harness. I've been excited to see this car completed.
