REFERENCE TO ABOVE PICTURES. THE INTAKE COVER WAS LEAKING SO THAT WAS PART OF MY ISSUE. STILL SWITCHING TO THE 600'S BECAUSE OF THE LARGE INTAKE PLENUM ISSUE AND I THINK THEY WILL BE BETTER. THE 390'S NEVER MADE IT OUT OF THE GARAGE BUT MY MISTAKE, SOMEONE'S GAIN.
I HAD AN ANNOYING OIL DRIP AND I KEPT THINKING IT WAS THE-12 BULKHEAD FITTING FROM THE OIL PICKUP TO THE LINE BUT I REMOVED THE PAN AND FOUND THE PAN HAD A CRACK AROUND THE CIRCUMFRENCE OF THE -12 FITTING. I WANT TO RELOCATE THE FITTING TO ANOTHER SPOT ANYWAY SINCE IT IS A TIGHT FIT EVEN WITH THE MINI STARTER. GOING TO CONTACT CANTON OR STEF'S IN NEW JERSEY. YES THE PAN WAS A MF'ER TO GET OUT BUT IT HELPS TO HAVE A LIFT |

WELL THE OIL PAN LEAK TURNED OUT TO BE A CRACK IN THE OIL PAN ITSELD. IT SEEMS THAT THE BULKHEAD FITTING OVER THE YEARS STRESSED THE PAN METAL AN CAUSED A CRACK. RATHER THAN REPLACE THE PAN SINCE THIS ONE HAS ALL THE LINES IN THE RIGHT SPOT I DROPPED THE PAN OFF AT STEF'S IN TOM'S RIVER NJ TO HAVE PATRICK WELD UP THE CURRENT OUTLET AND FABRICATE A NEW PICKUP AND A REINFORCED SPOT FOR THE OUTLET. THE OLD LOCATION WAS CLOSE TO THE STARTER, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A SMALL DIAMETER ONE IT WAS CLOSE. THE NEW SETUP WILL BE BETTER

NAH THIS PAN IS FROM 1970. IT WAS BUILT BY GUYS WHO EVENTUALLY BECAME CANTON OIL PANS IN CONN. CHANCES ARE IT WAS STARTING TO CRACK WHEN I PUT IT TOGETHER , WHO LOOKS THAT CLOSE. I THOUGHT OF JUST GETTING A NEW CANTON PAN AND PUTTING THE OIL RETURNS IN THE NEW PAN BUT I'D RATHER KEEP THE ORIGINAL ONE. THIS TIME RATHER THAN HAVE IT POWDER COATED, I MIGHT GO FOR THE GOLD DIPPED LOOK. NOT SURE. ANY WAY WHEN I GET IT BACK I'LL TAKE PICTURES OF THE AWESOME TRAP DOOR AND WINDAGE TRAY DONE BY STEF'S OIL PANS OF TOM'S RIVER NJ.

ALSO I AM GOING TO FIX THE UPPER RADIATOR HOSE SITUATION. NOT GOOD AS IS TOO TIGHT A BEND AND NO ROOM FOR FLEX.
FOUND THAT CSR MAKES AN INLINE FILLER WITH AN-20 ENDS SO I WILL RUN THE RADIATOR TO THE LEFT INTO THE FILL ADAPTOR WITH A 90 DEGREE END THEN THE OTHER SIDE WILL RUN A AN-20 90 DEGREE RIGHT TO THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING WHICH HAS THE AN -20 FITTING. THERE MIGHT BE A NEED TO FABRICATE SOME TYPE OF BRACKET, PERHAPS MOUNTED TO THE FENDER TO RAD SUPPORT ROD. WILL SEE WHEN I GET IT. |

INSTALLED THE NEW HOLLEY 650 DOUBLE PUMPERS. ALSO RECEIVED THE CSR ALUMINUM RADIATOR FILLER THAT WILL GO IN LINE WITH THE UPPER HOSE. REMOVES THE WICKED TIGHT BEND IN THE INITIAL SET UP. WAITING FOR THE 90 DEGREE FITTINGS AND MORE AN-20 HOSE TO FINISH. ALSO WAITING FOR THE OIL PAN TO COME BACK FROM THE POWDER COATER. |
