We are re-building my 1970 390 motor and noticed that it has a crack. Will a 68-69 390 balancer be the same to do a swap? Thanks for some expert advice. Thanks, Buddy |

No. You'll need the one year specific 70 Balancer. I believe I have a spare one. I can check tomorrow.
I would absolutely have the rotating assembly balanced using the balancer you source from whom/where ever. |

Great information. Yes, we plan to balance the assembly when we get this replacement balancer. Let me know if you come up with one and thanks, Buddy

Looks like I'm in the market for a 70 390 balancer, is there still one available?

70-71 360s use the same balancer. Let the flame wars begin.

If the rotating assembly is already in the block, can you not match balance the replacement balancer to the old one, assuming it was balanced with the rotating assembly? I did that with a built short block I picked up when I wasn’t using the balancer it was built and balanced with. It was a ‘74 360 block that I was putting 290 front dress on to maintain stock appearance.

Just have the new one balanced to match the old one.
Any balance shop can do it for a few bucks. Ron. |
