Best of luck with this project.  It sounds like you have a vision in mind. Post pics so we can follow the build, please. It's great that have a plan for your future and are willing to work to make it a reality.

Ok well I was doing some vin decoding and I read that the 65's with a 232 straight 6 was rare. And there were only about 1500 made in 65 with this motor. Is this true?

Pretty much anything Marlin was rare. My book doesn't break them down by engines.  The 232 is a nice six - one of the best ever made, and I've seen quite a few suriviving 65-66 Marlins with it.

Well we got the car to our shop today and started cleaning and gutting the interior. There had to be squirels living in there. lol But heres the deal. As we are digging into this I am finding LOTS of extra 232-1bbl parts. And I looked on the trunk lid and there was a sticker that said caution this car is equipped with a locking differential. How rare is that? Cause my dad made a good point that the only cars that really had that were corvettes and mustangs. All my chrome trim is there. I have three of the Marlin hub caps and one rambler hub cap. I have the trunk rubber floor mats but those are rough. And I have the front and back feet floor mats. The rubber ones. The front are green and the back are black. Help and thoughts please. hah. I took lots of pics and will post them up when I get to school or find time. Thanks Gage

AMC Twin Grip differential - not uncommon in AMCs.
Looking forward to the pictures.  You have my sympathy with the squirrells...my car had lots of mouse and rat damage when we started.  Hate those rodents. Save the parts you don't want and sell them to people who need them - AMC recycling is a good thing.
The mats were probably replaced in a mix-or-match fashion along the way. What color is your interior?
This Wiki article seems pretty good.

I have black interior. And yea i was planning on selling all the retrain and engine electronics since Im not re using them in the future. But Im still in the tear down stage obviously. I got all Thwts interior out and almost the dash. There not for sale yet because i might still have other plans but what would the rear end and torque tube be worth. Along with the fuel pump and carb? Like i said i might always go back to a 6cyl if its worth something.

You know, keeping the six isn't a bad idea. You probably could find a Rambler Classic with the drivetrain you need really cheap, and it'd be pretty decent on gas so you could drive it all over the place. Plus it would be unique, very few people keep 6cyl cars original.
'66 Marlin, 327/Shift-Command

'64 Rambler Classic 550, 401/727

'65 Rambler Classic 770 Cross Country, 232/Flash-O-Matic

'85 Grand Wagoneer, 360/727, 4" lift

'66 Marlin, 327/T10 (parts car)

Any radio dude (or dudette) can test your radio to see if it works - a multimeter is a great little tool...if it lights up and is receiving power, that's a good sign.  The AMs are pretty simple - Motorola units - used on lots of other cars. Sometimes all they need are the power transistors and capacitors replaced - a good cleaning will help.  The knobs for yours show up faily often on e-bay - people tended to remove them from wrecked cars even if they didn't take anything else. There are always schematics on ebay.... but a working one (if you want AM only) should be less than $50.00 (sometimes much less depending on who else is bidding). Yours looks like water got to it behind the dash - not a good thing, but not fatal either. AM/FM units are harder to find and cost more. FM radio was pretty exotic back then, and AM radio actually had stations that played good music, so most cars came with AM only.  I found an AM'FM radio in a wrecked car - my husband rebuilt it - it works pretty well.  I have an XM radio that I use in the car - I plug it into the cigerette lighter and just sit it on the console.  Others have wired in some hidden radio MP3 jacks - which is a  cool way to go.
If I were a betting woman, I would bet that it wasn't squirrels  or chimpmunks...but RATS...big freakin' rats, that trashed your seats.  I hate these things.  I had them in my car (literally IN my car - a dead one was in the exhaust manifold), and had feces and urine in all sorts of places in the car. The dash ash trays had been used as latrines.  PLEASE consider wearing a face mask when cleaning the stuff up, particularly if you are in a hanta virus area. (carried in mouse urine - and inhaled from dry mouse urine). OK...I sounds like a mom there...and I will tell you right now that I hate working with a breathing ask on - BUT it's better than contracting hanta virus, so I always wore one when dealing with the presents the nasty stinkin' rodents left me.

If you are going to keep the trim -  one more thought.  It's very hard to find NOS replacements for these - most of us end up straightening, and polishing the exisiting stuff...so everytime a new scratch is put in it, it means more work later.  Treat that stuff like it's made of gold. If you can save the little fasteners , do so.  Some unscrew from inside the doors/body panels, some are plastic one use only clips.  Some of the clips are reproduced, some aren't - so saving these if you can is good - even if they break, it's helpful to keep them so you can find something close enough to work.

The hardest part of putting these cars back together is finding the right little clip to keep things from falling off.

Personally, I loved taking the car apart...well..except for the rodent poo...I don't mind spiders.  Oh - and I hated taking the tailgate off...that was a real booger.
