My Canadian 66 Ambassador convert didn't come with A/C, and I'm not even sure it was offered in Canada.
I parted out a rusted out DPL hardtop for a complete system, but it's truly used..

Being in Texas where it get's 100+ degrees quite often, and also with it being a convertible with bad roof insulation :), I'm thinking about the feasibility of possibly using a more efficient setup from Vintage Air or a place like that, and running the air discharge through the factory dash vents.

I've never experienced the factory system and how it puts out, but I do know the York compressors rob plenty of horsepower from the engine.
And, with V8 A/C fan clutches being made of unobtainium and all, maybe a more efficient unit might be a better choice?

I'd love to hear some thoughts on this. Has anyone here done this before?

Also, I'd like to keep the Canadian AM/FM intact, the US factory A/C won't work with the Canadian radio.

I put aftermarket air in two Rogues, one a convertible, using Sanden type compressors and under dash evaporators. Straightforward and not hard to do,

Located usually near Rochester, NY and sometimes central FL.
