I'm surprised that 4.6 will fit the engine compartment.  That is one wide engine.  One of my friends just had to have a 4.6 in a '67 Mustang.  By the time he reworked the engine compartment so it would fit and massaged everything that behemoth ran into, he'd been better off staying with the 289.

It fits pretty good after you remove enough stuff. I've had it sit in there eactly where I wanted it and I have plenty of clearance. Once my 2x3's are in I will be ready to put in the motor mounts and fab up the trans cross member.

It is wider then a 454 by about an inch.  Steering and brakes will take some work, but don't look too bad.

Did he go with single or duel cam? Dual is 35 inches wide. I looked at those and was concerned about space.   Single is 30 inches.

So you're going with a Mustang II style front suspension, or something else... removing the spring towers? I know there is only 24" where the stock upper arms bolt on, but that is still low in the engine compartment. I don't think there is another 7" (would leave 1/2" of clearance on each side) up where the outside edges would be though.

Yes, I already installed the mustang II crossmember and fitted the control arms spindles hubs and wheels. Track with it around 5/8 inch wider on each side. Which it needed. My 7 inch wide magnum 500 sets perfectly in the wheel house now.
