    Posted: Mar/27/2011 at 8:05pm
I just put 3 quarts of oil in my 195.6 (without a filter change) and the dip stick reads FULL.   That's before and after a short drive.   It's a 65 model but the block is from a 63 car.  I'm wondering if the dipstick markings changed over the years and maybe this isn't the correct dipstick for the engine.

The service manual says 4 quarts and add one quart when changing the filter.

Can someone with a 195.6 OHV engine measure their dipstick from the bottom of the cap to the FULL mark?   I'd appreciate that info.

Joe,
There were at least two different dipsticks for that engine, one for a car with power brakes, one for standard.
Mine is in the barn, so I can't help you today.
As I'm sure you're aware, they should be 5 quarts with filter.

Ok mine measured 26 inches exactly to the full line, so I guess I have the wrong dipstick but it's not a problem now that I know that the reading makes sense.   Thanks for the quick measurement.  Joe
