Not sure if this is the right place for AMC 150 questions, but I have an ‘85 CJ-8 with a computer controlled Carter YFA. The computer is missing however. I was wondering if anyone knew of a source for a non computer controlled YFA so i can get the engine bay cleaned up a bit?
Thanks, Danny

i would guess that a plain old Carter YF ought to fit. easy enough to check from online pics i would think. base gasket pattern mainly, second would be throttle linkage. the rest ought to be easy to adapt; electric vs. stove choke, etc. YFs are common as dirt and cheap. there may be jetting differences between applications. |

Looks like a YF would fit, but throttle linkage may be a chore. Also, found rock auto sells reman YFAs for Ford pickups, may tey one of those.

If the stock throttle linkage is challenging you could always use a Lokar throttle cable.

Took a month long vacation at lovely Ft. Irwin, CA for work. Found out Rock Auto has rebuilt YFAs and one for an Early ‘80s Ford F-150 doesn’t have a stepper motor or any computer control stuff. Throttle linkage looks to be the same or very similar based on pictures

Finally had time to install the Ford YFA. Bolts on fine. PCV inlet and fuel inlet and reversed. Wasn’t much of a problem to reroute. Throttle linkage was reversed. Got the hole in the stock rod drilled through so I could flip it. Rod is 1-1.5 inchs to short. Going to try and get it extended. And if that fail, a Lokar throttle cable.
Figured if anyone else was trying to get a simpler carb on an AMC 150 they might find this interesting
