I just hope all these dramas you have been experiencing haven't wiped away the sweetness of owning such a great car

Yes the Saga in turning into an epic .............

The first 12 months where it was away having the body and paint sorted, was far less painful that this shorter separation now. All a bit of a tease I think, got to drive it around over 2 weekends, then my baby leaves me to go back to Hornet Hospital...............
I am excited about having it back and knowing not too much else can go wrong .

motor rebuild is in full swing ...........

The block was tested and found to be solid. Its being rebored 30 thou over. Getting new stock Pistons, upgraded 401 cam.
Original heads were cracked in 6 places so they're toast. Have sourced a 2nd hand set of Heads that were Ported back in the 90's. Will have them machined up and added to the rebuild. Crank was scored, so its off to the machine shop for a clean-up.
Going to also have the motor balanced.

Don't have the budget to add huge amounts of performance, but it will be a sweet little engine when the rebuild is complete.

Yes, its one of those things where you have to strike while the irons hot. Life gets crazy busy and car projects are easily left on the back burner .....

The 360 block and crank just got back from the machine shop. Bored 30 thou over.
New Pistons etc have also arrived. The big issue at the moment is finding a good set of heads. The original ones were toast, tested and found 6 cracks. The next set I recently purchased were also found to be cracked, now being replaced with another set ................fingers crossed these are in good shape.

Good stuff, hopefully you can now spend some more time driving it and not fixing it for a change.

In the short time the Hornet has been in my care, apart from the bodywork and repaint, I have also had the break booster rebuilt, both top and bottom tanks replaced on the Radiator, Power steering pump rebuilt, aftermarket temp gauge installed, full set of tyres and now the Motor and Tranny both rebuilt ....................
