rear axle id question

hey all im trying to sell my old rear axle out of my 65 classic 660  had the three on the tree and the 232 wondering if anyone could tell me what rear axle my car had gear ratio etc thanks in advance

Probably 3.15 ratio. If it has a round cover on the back it will be the AMC 20. The smaller AMC 15 I believe has the drain plug in the cover. Don't forget that it is a torque tube rear axle.

Yup its torque tube still has the tube attached. i found info searching on google and confirmed its the 20 the guy thats interested wants to know the ratio. the site i found said you can id the ratio by the casting numbers but i couldnt find the info to decode the numbers. i have them if anyone knowledgable knows. 3172659

there should be a metal tag under one of th cover bolts with the ratio.

As TomJ says -- should be a metal tag with two numbers on it like 13/43. Divide big number by little to get the ratio, round to nearest two decimal places (13/43 is 3.3076923... 3.31 ratio).   If you can't find or read the tag, you have to remove the rear cover and count the teeth on the gears. The 13/43 is the number of teeth on the pinion and ring gears.
