I was sitting around thinking about all the different AMC engines I have seen, heard about, or read about over the years. What I don't ever remember is anyone building a race 360 with Indy SR heads. Considering the air flow capabilities of the SR head and the realitively low cost to obtain a 360 it seems to me that it would be a very cost effective combination in the HP per cubic inch formula. Anyone out there know of anyone running any combination like this and if so what kind of results are you getting with it?

I don't really have any details, but I believe that combination was run very successfully in dirt late model speedway in Australia some years ago. I'm pretty sure 360 cubes was the class limit.

I am planning on starting a 360 build later this year modeled after my 401, fully ported SR heads 13.5 to 1 compression and large solid roller cam and 1.7 rockers. My 401 makes 649 hp and 534 lb tq. It's going to be interesting to see what the 360 makes.

Bob Stuller ran a SR headed 360 in the original Jeepenstein.  From what I recall it ran mid 11s on motor and picked up a bunch on nitrous.  He has a small block Ford in it now though.
