Hi all -

just about to start the motor on my '69 AMX 390 after about a year of work after dragging it around for 40 or so years of inactivity.

A few items I'm still looking for:

Windshield wiper arm, driver's side. Mine has the wind deflector. Mine could be repaired, I need the part that connects the blade to the arm

Hood chrome - on the nose of the hood. We managed to straighten this hood - it was bent and bondo-ed 40 years ago.

Where's a good place to get an original-ish voltage regulator? I may want a throw away first - this car had multiple regulators and alternators replaced back when - I may still have a wiring problem.

Anybody employ the internal filter for the power steering pump? I got a new pump and it came with an in-line filter - what is the consensus on that ?

I need the A M X (3 pieces) for the back reflector - I've seen re-pops for sale, I suppose that is the answer?

Thanks -

- Walter

Walter,
The hood trim used to be available as a repop from APD I believe, but I didn't see it in their current catalog. Might be worth a call to check. Voltage Regulators, contact Billd here on the Forum. AMX letter repops are occasionally available from E-Bay and are very good quality. Wipers arms are not reproduced as far as I can tell, maybe someone here has a stash. All mine are for 68's which used a 7/16" post VS the 1/2" for 69 and later. It's a very long shot, but many years ago I found a piece of trunk stainless trim from I believe a late 70's Hornet sedan, it was about 3/16" shorter than the AMX/Javelin hood trim, but the same width. It's still on my son-in-law's 68 Javelin. It even has the same center V bend and the same trim clips. Good luck finding one of those!

Sorry to be so long in getting back to this.

Here are some pics of the wipers and the regulator plug.

I would like to use these wipers, and one of them has some damage at the connector. I might be able to repair it, but I am also looking for a suitable one to either replace or provide parts.

It's not obvious by looking, but I think the connector is missing that little keeper clip.

This car apparently had quite some issues with regulators and alternators. Looking through receipts from the early 70s, it shows multiple visits to repair shops resulting in alternator and regulator replacements.

There were at least 3 or 4 of these regulators lying in the trunk. My dad it seems, was trying to track the problem, there was an old dial gauge ammeter wired into the system under the hood.

I am guessing that the regulators like this pictured on were early replacements? The original is still bolted to the fender - the metal cased one that has "Neg GRD" or whatever, embossed on it.

I have seen both sales on various sites, eBay etc. on in particular says "test and working fine" in the headline, bit when you look at the description, it says it cannot be tested, and is being sold "as is"

On another note, I am also looking for  a source for plug wire keeper, like the kind that slip onto the tabs on the valve covers.

Thanks -

- W
