If there a fan clutch from another vehicle that can be used in the AMC sixes with the original fan shoud in place? A propeller of the same diameter as the original seven-blade Flex unit.

I had an experience with a mechanic adapting a fan clutch that allegedly came from a Ford Thunderbird. That fan could not be used as it was since he had to cut portions of the blades to make it fit with the original fan shroud. Cutting the blades meant a probable loss of balancing. However, the main issue is that the fan with a slight movement from the engine in normal use would hit against the shroud.

In the end, thinking of preventing any damage to not just the shroud but the engine I decided to remove the fan clutch and revert back to the original powerflex fan.

Thanks in advance

Fan part #3239446 is a steel six blade that is "supposed" to be for 81-88 Spirit, Concord, Eagle.
The clutch can be found at Rock Auto ...

I do not have a part # for 79 or 80 and don't know if there are differences.

Depending on V belt or surpentine?  One rotates one way the other goes the other way. The later cars have fan clutches....

I completely forgot about that.

It would be V belt.
