While I've had the recliner drums apart in the past I've never given any thought to what would be involved in fixing or securing the recliner mechanism from "letting go". You most likely could drill and tap the drum and install a bolt or set screws to create a permanent stop position. You can't lock the two halves together or the seat won't fold forward.
Long time AMC fan. Ambassador 343, AMX 390, Hornet 360, Spirit 304 and Javelin 390. All but javelin bought new.

Likely not your problem; my Marlin passenger seat would fall back just driving down the road  Tongue.  Wife thought I should quit trying to figure out why the trunk light and the driver door light switch aren't working and get on the passenger seat issue.  Turns out the spring was out of it's hole in the frame and the big screw had been tightened down without having the paws on either side of the pin.

Put it back together this afternoon and no more issues.  Back to the wiring issue  Smile.

Had the Marlin a week now and still have a list of to do things.
