Keep the pics coming!

My engine builder, Doug Triplett, went this route for improved oiling. The lifter bores are bushed. I'd have to speak with him on the key factors of going with this setup. Doug has been around the NASCAR scene as an engine builder for decades. He has first hand knowledge of AMC's dive into NASCAR and their engine program from back in the 70's.

I'll keep the pics coming. I don't want to give too much away. Need to leave something for the big reveal at Autorama 2021. Now if I can only get my hands on some window vent seals!

Hey Guys,

Here's a few updated photo's of the The Great American SEMA Project that are long past due. With SEMA now cancelled for 2020, the focus is on debuting the Great American at the Detroit Autorama in 2021. I thought I'd wet your appetite with where we stand currently. We've come a long way and since SEMA has been cancelled, the mad scramble to complete the project has let up just a bit.

Hope you guys like it.

NOTE: I'm in desperate need for the triangular vent window rubbers and will pay top dollar to anyone that has something that'll work on this hot rod. Please don't hesitate to contact me at nick@americanracingheaders.com  Thanks!
Nick,  those vent window rubbers are almost impossible to find and are AMC vendors dont have them either.  Took me about a year and some help from others to find NOS ones. From what i understand they are going to be reproduced but they are over a year away before we will see them.  Good luck in your search. Lee

A stand out project.  Really like the color scheme choice - classic and classy.  The wheels are custom?  They don't look like the repro aluminum magnum 500s.  Stock centers on wider hoops?

Keep giving us peeks at this.  The Americans have such nice proportions and lines.  Great to see one getting this kind of love.  Wish I could help with the vent window rubbers.

Lee,  I’m learning that it’s not going to be easy locating these seals but I’m prepared to do whatever it takes to get a pair. I’m looking into having them made by a 3D printer if it comes down to it. I’m not going to allow a pair of vent window seals prevent me from wrapping up this project. With everything else pretty much being available for the Americans, it’s mind boggling to me that these seals aren’t readily available, most especially since they’re in high demand and many would be sold. They also fit so many model years, it’s a no brainer. I appreciate the insight Lee. Thanks.

Glad you like the color selection. It needed to be period correct and I think we hit the mark. The wheels are American Racing but I had the fronts narrowed to 5”. They don’t come in any narrower width than 7”. Rears are 10”. The rear suspension is a Calvert Cal Tracks setup with sliders. There’s extensive work done in the rear but we went to great lengths to make it look stock. The wheelbase was extended 1-1/2” so I wouldn’t need to alter the quarter panels to accommodate the larger wheel/tire combination. There’s much more to share and I certainly will soon. Stay tuned.
