Has anyone used Gaterman roller lifters or know anything about them? They told me that they are the same type that are used on Chrysler B applications and have tested them on an AMC 390 with no issues. They sell for $450 a set..  www.gatermanproducts.com/amc-retrofit.html

Just to let you know those lifters are made in China.

I did some reading on different brand hydraulic roller lifters with mixed reviews, most of the brand names had good reviews the retro-fit seemed to have the most issues also high RPM's above 7000 might be a concern. There are Howards/Morel? hydraulic rollers for AMC on ebay $416 shipped, they list measurements of .903"? there has been discussion about lifter diameters here I am not sure if .903" could be a problem. I did find an older article about Gaterman roller lifters see below. The ebay roller lifters I bought might end up in stock 304 and 360 I have engines someday?

Bill Gaterman is quoted on Speedtalk about his lifters and the fact they are assembled here with all Chinese parts.

Yea, you're right, they do look exactly the same. I sent a message to the guy selling them on ebay asking where they are made. I got a response in broken English telling me they were great lifters and had been in business for 10 years and they are made in Shanghai China.

Don’t get Shanghaied.

I would trust good used 50+ year old American-designed and made stuff before using budget Chinese-made internal or valve train engine parts.

My rule of thumb is, if it moves or is internal to the engine, buy the best new parts regardless of price and with the best reputation - if money is an issue, then just go with good factory stock parts.

I have read Morel makes Howards and several other brands there are many complaints about Morels being noisy on start up and after several K miles although most noted there was no performance difference just noise. Same issue with Comp Cams noisy even when hot, ISKY sells Johnson and Johnson lifters have good reviews all around they are quiet but expensive.
