The carpet is cut around the upper pivot of the gas pedal. See photo

AMFSTBK390.. Does the carpet go under the upper pivot mount for the gas pedal that is mounted on the firewall or is the carpet cut out around it. I can't really tell that clearly.

Yes. 1968 AMX undergoing complete remodel/refinement of the interior.

I didn't get out to the garage on Saturday .. It was to cold.. Can anyone provide a picture of how the carpet lays under the dash especially around the steering column , gas pedal mount on the firewall. and emergency brake. Thanks

The plastic push in fasteners are intended to go through the carpet to secure the top edges of the carpet to keep it from coming down.
Long time AMC fan. Ambassador 343, AMX 390, Hornet 360, Spirit 304 and Javelin 390. All but javelin bought new.

Yes those are the T Plugs/Rivet type Fasteners that I was talking about.The aftermarket carpet that I have does not have sewn in openings .
