and I have a YF on my 1974 258. And I drive it over 100 miles one way. Have had this car for 4 years or so. Never vapor locks.  I know about enthenol,  but I dont believe it causes the vapor lock problems. Because none of my carburetored cars do it.

73gremlin, then i won't doubt your experience. i'm sure it's as you say. clearly we have lots of variables here. i apologize for going too far afield on too little information.

for jdarosa's problem here, the issue is, there's not enough information -- yet -- to know if there's a mechanical issue or other problem -- or vapor lock -- and only some kind of testing will tell.

Thanks for all the feedback everybody. Been off the grid and working on it a few days.

I let it warm up and then it dies, after about 10 mins. There IS fuel to the carb immediately after it dies. The ECM is a replacement installed new last September. The electric fuel pump is at the back of the car, at the tank, and temps are not that hot, so no vapor lock.

I'm not sure how to test the return line from the dual outlet fuel filter. It runs back to the tank, and looks to be intact. I can try the tip of loosening/removing the fuel tank cap too.

That leaves the Motorcraft module and the cap/rotor/pickup coil, correct?

You say gas is present at the carb then check for spark should be a yes or no.
Ive had duraspark boxes quit on a 6 month old car. I've had them quit on 20 year old cars.

x3 on the spark box. Had a ton of those go bad over the years. Always kept one in the trunk just in case.

Another thing to look for is a tank venting problem. These cars have a return line with a check valve inside the return hose. My 81 Concord sedan would die 1 mile after leaving a gas station if they put the cap on properly. In the beginning it cost a couple of tows until I figured it out. My fix was to just sit the cap on the filler and not tighten it. It always did it. Had the car for decades. I also had to do this with my 85 Eagle Wagon. If that works for you then you can just drill a tiny hole in the cap so it can be tightened all the way (or locked if you have a locking cap).

That's why you troubleshoot instead of part swap for days and weeks.
Does the carb squirt gas as it should? It's either a yes or no.
Does it have a steady spark? Same yes or no answer.

easy test: drive with the cap loose or off. if it dies, not the cause.
