with the engine on a stand, my left pinkie is precisely the correct tool to extract the relief plunger. tool # J-1234567890. you can rent it from me for $100 including shipping (first class). lol. (for you! big discount!)

it's a thimble-like cup (if you recall) so fingertip suction worked for me. could probably use a bolt or a tap to catch it with the threads....

It's fixed.   Oil pressure was 52 psi at fast idle with cold oil today.  I'm using 10w40 oil because of the suspected mileage on the engine.  Joe
